Battersea Powers On

Battersea Power Station stands as a powerful symbol on the River Thames. In this work, a canoe group glides across the water, echoing the river’s role in London life for over a millennium. Once a vital source of electricity, the Power Station later fell into decades of abandonment—empty and desolate—before its remarkable rebirth into a lively district of homes, shops, and cultural spaces.
This painting honours that transformation from neglect to renewal. While painting onsite, a bold little bird kept pacing nearby, and his presence found its way into the scene. The graffiti nods to Banksy, while the water’s depth and movement are heightened with resin.
